A big welcome to the new member Shirley Lesch  who joined our Club on

June 3. Don't forget to welcome Shirley and we hope that she will enjoy both the volunteer and the social sides of our Club.

The Peace Poster Contest was a huge success this year thanks to the efforts of Lion Jim Doak. He perservered to generate the enthusiam at the principal-teacher level at James Robinson amd Kateri Tekakwitha schools and  got three winners that went on to the district level. Our kids did not win the District title but the whole program was a great entry into this activity for the CS&Y Committee which can be built on next year with even greater participation. Lion Jim's efforts showed both the schools and the parents that Lionism cares about the welfare of our youth .

Markham Lions Launch Two New Fund -Raising Programs for 2010

Markham Lions, Milliken Mills Lions Club and New Horizons Lions Club jointly sponsored a Charity Golf Tournament at Cherry Downs Golf and Country Club on July 24 to benefit CNIB. The tournament featured a Hole- in- One Challenge courtesy of Markville Ford with a red Ford Mustang prize for the lucky golfer. Unfortunately, only one golfer got as close as 4 feet and Ford dealer Craig Riley had to drive it back to his lot. Thanks Craig for adding this contest to our tournament...maybe next year.

July 24 turned out to be a wet and stormy day but 91 golfers persevered the weather to record some respectable team scores as well as contribute over $4000 to CNIB. Thanks to Lion Larry Tod and all the Committee members for all their hard work in making this a successful day.
