Fund Raisers

The Markham Lions for many years have raised funds for Markham through several events. These funds are then given to citizens or organizations in Markham to support their activities. This is a list of the major fund raising events sponsored by the Markham Lions:

Markham Lions Food Booth at Markham Fair:  Every Lion in the organization, their spouses, children and sometimes grandchildren are involved in this major event. Occurring in the weekend before Thanksgiving weekend, this activity entails feeding the 40,000 + visitors to the Markham Fair over a four day period. The menu consists of hamburgers, Lionburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and soft drinks. This is a hectic activity that is very organized and well managed after over 60 years of operation.

► Markham Museum Food Booth

► Heritage Day and Applefest

► Cruise Draw Tickets

► Markham Lions Spring Plant Sale and Delivery: Beginning in early April, the Markham Lions members begin their house to house sale of 11 different bedding plants such as petunias and impatience as well as 6 different hanging flower baskets. These plants are then delivered in late May for planting. The reception by the public has been exceptional and is one of the major means of gaining exposure to the Markham citizens for the work that we do in the community.

► Victoria Day and Canada Day Fireworks Sales: Every Victoria Day weekend and Canada Day weekend, the Markham Lions sell a wide assortment of fireworks at the Markham Village Community Centre parking lot.

► Turkey Roll
